The only reason I decided to watch this movie was because I heard their was a drag race. Well, the drag race was lame-- and stupid dangerous; I mean, who the heck does that stuff?! Bro when they had all those cars lined up, it was like they were in a cult or something and everyone acted like it was normal. "Yeah, let's meet up Friday night and see who doesn't die when we charge full steam ahead toward a cliff. Literally what could possibly go wrong? No xp doing this sort of thing? Aw, you'll do fine champ." ANYWAY as for the rest of the movie, I thought it really dragged on, and I didn't like the ending with all the police chaos. I had a different vision for this movie that would have been much better and cooler. BUT... this is what we have. Is it an unequaled icon that will stand the test of time forever? Of course. It's just not what I expected is all I'm saying. Would be interesting to see in the theater. A normal drag race would be peak!!!!! Most films of the very genre that followed plays it off as intense fun in seeking thrills, but this feels comparably raw while also took a step further in insightfully demonstrative honesty displaying a comforting reminder. Irrational but thoughtful with excelled deliverance over its subject matter, bolstered by James Dean’s performative testament that gives a haunting sense. (B+) See more Luke S @RT54699090 Aug 8 Hyper-dramatic - ohhhh the angst of being a teenager when no one understands you. It is a twistingly beautiful portrait though of teenage-hood in the mid-50's. There is presumably a lot of Dean in his character in terms of authenticity and genuine-ness. I saw this for the first time at Cine Paris, a rooftop theater in Athens, in the summer. The Greek audience roared with laughter at the end - tensions are wound so high - two teenagers dead, another wounded and then "Mom. Dad. This is Judy." The tension is broke introducing the parents to the new girlfriend. This is Judy - she's accessory to two murders, including her boyfriend. We're in love. Ahhhh hahahahahaha.
