The film follows three women running for office for the first time as they face aggressions too macro to be micro and voters whose attitudes may make you question the feasibility of this whole democracy thing. Go to Full Review

What's remarkable about Bachelder's doc is the degree of access and trust she gains from her subjects. Go to Full Review

The film skillfully understands that by limiting its own scope, there's an opportunity to invest deeply in each of the women's stories. Go to Full Review

Bachelder's film illustrates in piercing detail that attitudes towards women running for office need to change, and while it may not offer any clear-cut ideas as to how to go about that, it does provide viewers with plenty of food for thought. Go to Full Review

Like any good documentarian, Bachelder shows us the people behind the process, and lets us get to know and like them. Go to Full Review

dave d @RT34924333 12/23/2020 When 'Knock Down the House' was released last year it was a great look at what can be accomplished against the grain. This film falls far short of that (perhaps not for trolls), but it is fine. The director can't find subjects that have charisma or the ability to communicate a message which may be intentional, but it makes the film just sit there. I couldn't figure out any reason to root for any of these three women, but I admire their courage. The movie just seems forced. It's not revolutionary and mostly forgettable, but it's in focus and that's always a plus. As a fan of documentary films, we are lucky there are so many with distinct and illustrative points of view. This isn't one that I'll remember. Final Score: 5/10 See more Read all reviews
