...This is no coincidence since Roma represents the portrait of a canonical family model that also collapses, which is also consistent with the prominence of an earthquake during one of the most significant scenes of the feature film.

Alfonso Cuarón's Roma is a deeply human portrait of ordinary lives that finds remarkable power in the everyday. Roma stands out for its incredible performance from Yalitza Aparicio as Cleo. It gradually invites us into the rhythms and struggles of both her life and the household she helps care for, particularly her evolving relationship with Sofía. Set against the backdrop of Mexico City in 1970-71, Roma subtly weaves in the era's political unrest and stark class divisions without being preachy. Shot in luminous black and white with long, patient takes, Roma feels unlike a traditional Hollywood drama and more like a memory unfolding in real time on a home camera.

This film felt extremely personal and emotional without trying too hard. I appreciated how calm and quiet the movie was because it allowed the emotions to naturally stay with you. The visuals were honestly beautiful the entire time.

Cinematography is one of the things that stands out to me. Personally hit home me since my mom is a house keeper herself. The acting is amazing and so is the storytelling.

I personally loved this movie. The portrayal of the nanny and the kids lives and how they were impacted along with the beautiful way the camera was used in places such as the beach scene were really fascinating to watch

Roma is a visually beautiful and emotional film that feels very realistic and personal. One of the movie’s biggest strengths is the way it explores themes like family, sacrifice, and social class through everyday moments rather than dramatic action. The story of Cleo shows how deeply she cares for the family she works for while also highlighting the class inequality in Mexico at the time. I also liked how the black-and-white cinematography made the film feel more emotional and artistic. Even though the pacing is slow, it helps the audience connect more deeply with the characters and their experiences.
