Antony B @RT29664284 2d Danny DeVito storms through the film with the energy of a man who'd complain about winning the lottery because the cheque was folded. Then the universe decides he's overdue for a spectacularly bad day, and watching karma repeatedly clock him upside the head is comedy in its purest form. Bette Midler absolutely steals the movie. What starts as a kidnapping quickly turns into a masterclass in watching everyone's brilliant "foolproof" plans collapse like a lawn chair at a sumo tournament. Every character is convinced they're the smartest person in the room, which is hilarious because they're all taking turns proving otherwise. The script is packed with misunderstandings, double-crosses, and enough perfectly timed twists to make you feel like you're watching a group project run entirely by people who lied on their résumés. Nobody learns a lesson. Nobody becomes a better person. Everyone just gets more spectacularly ridiculous, and somehow that's incredibly satisfying. Immediately I was drawn in with the very 80’s opening title sequence and I loved it till the credits rolled. First off, such a STACKED cast and extremely sharp writing. I was not expecting for this to be such a dark comedic movie. It felt like a more grounded Naked Gun or Mel Brooks film that actually had a somewhat rewarding pay off. This is an 80’s film in the best way possible and might truly be one of the most surprisingly fun movies I’ve ever seen!
