See more Mario F. @mariofernav May 25 The film maker adapted a novel set in the 80’s Nicaragua and placed in 2021 Nicaragua during Covid Era. Big mistake in keeping details from the novel, Nicaragua in 2021 was not like the 80s at all, this feels more like Cuba. The actos that are supposed to be Nica are from Panama , so all accents are almost from Panama. He should have done good research and adapted the novel accordingly. See more A.W. E @A.W.E Dec 1 I could not figure out what the hell was going on in the background of Daniel until after 2 hours but what was obvious was his increasing popularity by every five minutes of screen time. Clearly it's a matter of survival and the raw depiction of doing anything to survive is the only remarkable stuff about this movie. Margaret Qualley's performance contributes a star to the movie. The fluctuation of suspense adds a half star. Then there's the premeditated symbiotic union of a stranded American journalist and a screwed up Agent. Acting was fine but the dialogue was terrible and lack of any purpose just makes you want to turn it off the further you get into the movie. Lots of pointless nudity and more than a few "why the hell did that just happen" moments. Skip this and watch The Substance, you'll get just as much if not more Margarent Qualley nudity but accompanied by an actual plot.
