As far was WW11 movies run, this one was very well done, and it tells told a true story unfamiliar to most people about Norwegian sailors during the war. However, the ending to the film was underwhelming, and the plot started to drag about halfway through the film. There was very little character development, with hints of it occuring towards the very end of the movie. I don't remember any of the characters' names, none of them were memorable. I do think the movie was effective at showing the trauma and horrors of war, and there were some good scenes of action and tension. The plan the crew had to shoot down the German bomber at the end was ridiculous though. Overall, its worth a watch for history buffs. What irked me would slip past 99.9%, e.g. the unthinkable chance sighting of a burning tanker through the bridge wing door, and by the cute radio op of all people who spent most of her time anywhere but the radio shack. The crew lolling around in the ship's mess during an air attack instead of at stations was farcical. The sea state in the Barents Sea is not the pond it asked us to believe, summer or not. And yet, amongst all the clangers was the authentic old ship and equipment, especially the period radio equipment. Best of all was the perfect morse code -it's usually laughable gobbledegook. I see it as more of a drama. Entirely dubbed from German, I watched all the way through, found it to be unrewarding. I did feel some emotion regarding how it might have felt. However, with the exception of a few tense moments, it was no where near as exciting I had hoped. That all being said, drama in the face of adversity may appeal to some. On Hulu you get a choice of 👍 up or 👎 down. No in between. No way I would give it two thumbs up, so down it is. Based loosely on a true story, it had some impact in that respect. Not so much action though, if that's what you are looking for. I was disappointed. Translated to english Good performances and some well handled sequences that captures the unease from this time gets the Convoy moving slightly forward, but i didn't feel emotionally captivated by the way the film depicts this story, and it does at the same time have a very abrupt ending that felt very thin. All in all, an okay war movie in and of itself, but one that doesn't leave me with any impressions. The film suffers from very poor writing and situations that are so unrealistic that even the basic suspension of disbelief is stretched thin. You will drive yourself crazy with, “that doesn’t make sense?” or, “why didn’t they do this?” questions. The answer is poor writing.
