What to Know

Critics Consensus

A brutally efficient yet emotionally hollow swashbuckler, The Bluff's blood-soaked action never quite makes up for it charmless sense of adventure.

Rather than reinvent the genre, the film leans into familiar tropes to deliver bursts of visceral action backed by a commanding central performance from Priyanka Chopra Jonas. Go to Full Review

The Bluff has rough edges, but it’s never workmanlike. Go to Full Review

The Bluff is a rollicking good time despite the fact (or maybe because of the fact) that the line between thrilling and ridiculous has never felt more razor thin than it does here. Go to Full Review

... it’s well made *enough* that it’s also tense and good, bloody fun, if this is your idea of fun. Go to Full Review

While this tries desperately to channel A History of Violence and Pirates of the Caribbean – its chaotic storytelling and emphasis on style over substance means it reminded me more of Cutthroat Island and Ballistic: Ecks v Sever. Go to Full Review

Jerod S @jeroduptown Jul 22 Chopra as an action hero never really lands even though there's a ton of bloody, pirate-y action. See more Phantom S @ph4nt0m Jun 27 First of all, this film has no connection to Cayman Brac. That one is large limestone bluff stretching through all the island. In fact, it is the island. No caymans or crocodiles there and have never been. No rivers as well, because it's limestone. No jungles, just bushes and small crooked trees, again, because it's limestone. Second, the course of action is highly predictable and utterly unrealistic. Priyanka Chopra single handedly and in a quite sadistic way eliminates the whole pirate crew with Karl Urban in charge who acted like Butcher in The Boys. Considering that Chopra was beaten to half death in the beginning by two athletic pirates, then caught a bullet in her leg somewhere in the middle of the film, having her succeed further against the rest of pirate crew had no credibility at all. Many outside scenes look like AI made. The acting in general is not impressive either. The characters of Elizabeth (Safia Oakley-Green) and Issac (Vedanten Naidoo) are rather annoying. See more The Wandering D @RT87120553 Jun 9 What a boring movie. Holy crap. I dragged myself through this movie. See more G L. @RT09869090 May 31 Priyanka Chopra kicks some major you know what in this pirate movie. See more Horror fan 4 @Horrorfan4life May 13 Well this was a fun pirate movie. The fight scenes and kills were a bloody good time. The story though was weak and predictable.
