Es ist ein charmanter, fantasievoller Familienfilm mit einer originellen Geschichte, liebenswerten Figuren und jeder Menge Kreativität. Bemerkenswert wie der Film offensichtlich ohne großes Budget so kreativ umgesetzt wurde. Die Besetzung ist besonders gut gelungen und die gesamte Umsetzung steckt er voller Herz. Ich hatte nie das Gefühl, schon zu wissen, was als Nächstes passiert, was ihn umso spannender gemacht hat. Wer märchenhafte Fantasyfilme mag, sollte sich von den schlechten Bewertungen nicht abschrecken lassen. // An underrated fantasy adventure. It’s a charming, imaginative family film with a unique story, lovable characters, and plenty of creativity. It may not have had a huge budget or marketing campaign, but it’s full of heart. See more PDC T @RT13398083 Aug 25 I don't understand why this movie is not rated higher, there are unnecessary scenes, too many characters, it takes a while to take off, but the boy is very interesting, he carries the movie very well, and is definitely engaging and charming, I would give it 3 1/2 stars for its originally and once you choose to watch all of it, you find that it was an entertaining tale, especially for kids, there's a slight feeling reminding of a Harry Potter story, not as great but good enough to watch it twice, I never care about "Rotten Tomatoes critics", they are a bunch of snobs who are rarely enthusiastic about Any movie, you decide for yourself. Its an excellent Kids/Family movie! This film should have been great at the box office but somehow the marketing dept. miss handled it and blew a great opportunity to merchandise the heck out of this film. We only discovered this by buying a DVD at DollarTree store - but our grandkids are going to love watching this very clever film many times. We enjoyed the unique storyline, great art direction, set work, and wardrobe. The period sets were excellent. The hard work the filmmakers invested into this film makes it hold up well and will do nothing but gain audience as time goes on. Watch it and have fun. See more 07/30/2018 This is one of the worst movies I've ever seen. It's a big mess and to me was super confusing. I didn't even make it all the way through this movie and I'll definitely never watch this again. This movie is a waste of your time, watch something worthwhile. 0/5 stars See more 04/25/2018 Somewhere, under layers and layers of added on faux European style and needless complexity is a fairly simple plot. Watching, you feel compelled to like it because of it's artistic efforts. But the efforts don't really go anywhere and I was left with the feeling that I'd watched more of an homage to other films than an actual film itself. Don't, whatever you do, get up to go to.the toilet or to put the kettle on during it. You'll come back and will.have lost the plot entirely. Joseph Fiennes looks more like his brother with each passing day. Unlike his brother however, his career in films is on a downwards trajectory for some reason.
