The film follows struggling American siblings Alice (Kristen Bell) and Paul (Ben Platt), who reluctantly agree to attend the wedding of their estranged, wealthy half-sister (Cynthia Addai-Robinson) in the English countryside alongside their mother, Donna (Allison Janney). Over the course of the wedding week, the family's many skeletons are wrenched from the closet, and the unlikely reunion gives everyone the motivation to move their own lives forward. A modern wedding comedy for anyone with a slightly dysfunctional family (everyone), or anyone who's been forced to attend a wedding they tried to avoid (also everyone).

it was a nice, fun and interesting comedy that just made me happy in less than two hours! of course it wasn’t this big oscar winning film, but i got immediately hooked with the story, the characters and their journey through the movie. kristen bell steals the show, with allison janey and ben platt making the perfect mother and brother to get into this adventure with!!! didn’t went with many expectations, but came out of it knowing a cute little new story about a really dysfunctional family :)

The actors made a really conventional movie into a bit more - though there were no laughs for this romcom. Kirsten Bell is often involved in such projects which are less comedy and much more social commentary and she's a very engaging screen presence.

3 minutes into this movie, the acting is terrible, it has a stupidness about it that I'm not willing to gamble another minute of my life on it getting any better. Two thumbs down.

Willing to discuss deeper subjects whilst appealingly comedic then forming a decent familial dynamic, the familiarly grasped commentary gets limited and afflicted by awkwardly addressed notions without realistic conviction nor spacious relations. (B-)
