Corbin S @Corbs1110 20h "The Sheriff" is a really solid indie that does a lot with what it has. The action feels real, the visuals look great, and the whole thing has a gritty tone that keeps you locked in. Michael Edwards is solid in the lead role, and the supporting cast adds a lot to the story. I also liked how it mixed in quieter, more emotional moments with the action. Overall, it’s just an easy, entertaining watch. If you like crime dramas, this is definitely worth checking out. I appreciated the camerawork, the movements and transitions within scenes were smooth. I also thought the score was well done. The fight scenes were well choreographed, creating an intense environment. I enjoyed how the scenes where Nick imagined his son were created. It conveyed his struggle with grief quite well. My personal standout is Patrick Cage’s character: Deputy Shaw. I thought he was well written and portrayed, offering comedic lines and thrilling action scenes. I thought Cage brought his scenes to life. Another thing I liked was the plot twist, I didn’t expect it! Some notes — I did sometimes struggle to feel the emotions behind the characters’ dialogue. I also thought Nick’s ending was a bit abrupt. But, these things don’t take away too much from how well I feel this film was made.
