See more 10/12/2017 Great Movie. really entertaining. great characters. a great dive in life where G-d plays central role in personal life and community life. I love the big question the community faces. What are you willing to risk as a community in the name of G-d? It was a fiddler on the roof story but in the opposite direction. the people were getting more religious instead of less traditional. and that was tearing the community apart. A community not willing to tear itself apart i the name if someone else's religious doctrine. Happy families who lived as a group who were committed to the synagogue and understood that the shul is the place where these people come together. and not to take the for granted. it was literally what brought them together and they created a beautiful community. I like how the religious rabbi was the bad guy, and except for his final moment of forgery, he wasnt really painted to be so so evil. Even at his final moment we see his effort to be a compassionate person who helps other with their minyan. it came off to me as someone who is still fundamentally good. See more 09/30/2017 Brilliant from start to finish. See more 07/23/2017 In understanding this film it helps to know a bit about Jewish culture and religious traditions. But having said that, what I loved about it was that it showed women standing up for themselves (in this case against a zealous ultra-orthodox rabbi) without ever losing their love and bond with their husbands and each other. They get angry, but they never lose focus on what has actually been lost and what needs to be regained, a loving community of good people. See more Read all reviews
