Three youngsters lead difficult lives in a poor, rural mountain village in northern Turkey. Omer (Ozkan Ozen) hates his father, the village Imam, and imagines different ways to kill him. His friend Yakup (Ali Bey Kayali) has a secret infatuation with his teacher. Yildiz (Elit Iscan) must handle the housework handed out by her severe mother. Their tough existence is tempered by the wonder and excitement of youth, as their daily lives are divided into five sections, separated by prayer sessions.

09/10/2015 Three Turkish children grow up in a small village. Omer is the son of the local Imam, a sickly man who Omer wishes would die. Yakup is obsessed with his teacher. Yildiz has trouble balancing the demands of school with household duty to her baby brother. A beautiful looking, atmospheric film that paints a detailed picture of life in rural Turkey, but probably bites off too much by trying to follow three major characters. Each child's story seems too sketchy. See more 03/27/2015 The cinematography and music are beautiful. The connection between nature and life is evident as is the triumph of nature (and thus time) over life. All juxtaposed against three young teens coming of age in a tough traditional Turkish Muslim mountain village where animals can always be heard. Add to this the cycles of birth and death, of love and pain and of the never breaking patterns of familial abuse continued generation after generation.
