Timestalker follows hapless heroine Agnes through time as she repeatedly falls for the wrong guy, dies a grim death, gets reincarnated a century later, before meeting him again and starting the cycle anew. It is one story told over many periods, all with the messy thrills and spills that come with daring to follow your heart. Or maybe your loins... Agnes’ only hope in avoiding this violent fate is by finally reaching spiritual enlightenment; but how can she ever wise up when she’s destined to be a fool for love? Some lessons are just too hard to learn in one lifetime.

Timestalker is pretty bad in that artsy, underfunded sort of way. It has just about the dumbest payout I've seen, the plot is jumbled and they deliberately gaslight the audience as I guess we are supposed to suspect the protagonist is crazy. That is too bad, because one of the great disappointments here is the film has so much squandered potential - the premise is great. And, what very little dry comedy is in here is actually pretty funny. However, unlike the FAR superior Bill and Ted, they don't lean into the absurdist aspects, and instead we get a 400 year long mid life crisis... and believe me, no one wants to see that.

A truly weird movie, and I appreciate that. The concept is fun, the cast is excellent, and there's lots of comically grotesque death scenes. Something about it feels slightly unfinished or like it's missing something, but it's a brief and entertaining ride with some very funny moments. It's got a fair amount to say about human behavior and the inevitability of bad decision-making, though it never goes fully morose. Not like anything I've watched recently, which earns it points.

On paper I should have loved this one, but it really fell flat for me. Visually it's beautiful. Some brilliant, whacky turns of phrase (the syphilis gags), but very very condescending in it's message in the end. And why shouldn't it be, it's a fable, so it's got to have a moral and anyone moralizing in 2024 is bound to be condescending.

Truly a terrible film. I had hope it would be funny and oddball, but it was just a mess. The storyline makes no sense, the acting isn't even subpar, and it lacks any kind of substance, all together. Seriously, I think you might need to be under the influence to enjoy it, but even then, you wouldn't be able to understand it. I'd like those 88 minutes added back to my life, please.
