(Again, to reuse the phrase: it’s also dope as hell) For those that rated this movie low (or one star) and then gave such “brilliant” analysis as it didn’t have endless money thrown at it, it was dumb, etc etc These are people who actually like regurgitated marvel garbage because they like being told what’s good. They lack anything resembling taste, recognition of talent, or appreciation of scripting or campiness, and are interested in nothing but cookie cutter, and safe. They probably religiously watch reruns of Friends or Dawson’s Creek, or anything from the WB circa 1990-anything. That is about the equivalent of anyone with a pulse Or… they’re mentally retar*ed, that’s also a possibility. So yeah of course they are going to hate on this gem. Because frankly… It’s not for them. It wasn’t meant for them. Is it campy? Yes. Is it goofy? Yes. Is it hilariously and unnecessarily gory but not in a gratuitous bad horror movie way? Yes. Is it retro? Absolutely. Does it have an awesome “Rad meets Mad Max” vibe? Hell to the yes. Have I watched it ten times now? Yes Do you have to be a brainless do*chebag to hate on it? Almost certainly. However, If you love any of the following or anything like the following, then you’ll probably love Turbo Kid: Space Truckers Tank Girl Remo Williams Brazil TerrorVision Dark City Krull Jack brooks monster slayer Or if you have seen and love any similar movies to the above list that take themselves so NOT seriously that they’re serious about it, and yet lovingly dedicate themselves to the story no matter how over the top, if you can appreciate that, if that is you… then you will adore this movie! It’s a campfire story, and a fever dream, from a teenage boys imagination… in the comfort of your living room. A different reviewer than I said that it’s the real “borderlands” movie. I think that’s a pretty accurate description. As far as vibes go? Totally. It’s fun, it’s crazy, it’s like a video game… in short? It’s bada$$ This is from a 50 year old guy who’s seen his share of everything, take it from me. It’s an acquired taste, but it’s great.
