B K @maxmad Jun 25 Not what I expected. A comedy it is not. It is a commentary on US political and armed forces intervention. The idea that the bigger the gun, the more likely a successful outcome .... not. I enjoyed Pitt's acting and character. In fact, it is the Brad Pitt show and while it is over-the-top, one cannot help feeling that it is sadly nearer reality than one would like to believe. Nothing that happens appears to be far-fetched, given what we already know about US counterinsurgency activities since the 1960's. Four stars .... not for the screenplay, but because it makes one think about the madness. It's too bad it starred Dennis Quaid. His acting has gotten worse. It's not surprising the he's a MAGAT. Given that tRump is our commander in chief, I was rooting for the robot. Clichéd to death, gungho, send in the Rangers and throw in some macho deep emotion and explosions. Unbelievable, clap trap! However an excellent comedy on par with the exploits shown by the American military in the fantastic 'Team America' movie from years ago. I would rename it Space aliens v Jarheads or meatheads.
