See more Jamie D 02/03/2023 Ah!~ Whisper of the Heart live action was truly a dream come true if I’ve ever lived long enough to see one!🫶🏽 The story stayed true to the original movie w/ uttermost flattery to the all characters as you remembered them The cast chosen both young & adult versions were breathtaking to watch :) Out of all the Studio Ghibli films to get a live action I’m so happy it was whisper of the heart b/c it isn’t a westernized Lovie Dovie romance but a satisfying episodic tale of individual self growth w/ innocence of finding love in the process of living a dream driven life (//_^) Now for my unbiased opinion of the film it's a very captivating story, cute characters, rich imaginative scenes, delightful performances and a heartfelt message!! I appreciated the small details and the subtle sense of humor woven throughout. The story feels grounded and honest, highlighting real life choices and their consequences. While the film is emotionally impactful, the storyline could have benefited from deeper development. It has sufficient runtime, yet some scenes could have been trimmed to allow room for richer narrative exploration. The film certainly touches the heart, but with additional depth, it could have reached an even higher level. See more Kevin P Jan 9 A very relatable and inspiring story about the struggles of the creative process. I loved the charming scenes revolving around Country Road by John Denver. I love the unique hillside angles of the city. The "male love interest is rude to the main girl only because he likes her" trope bugs me, but the romance gets much better once they move past that cliche. Shizuko's passion for reading and writing is admirable, despite her detachment from reality when she's the creative zone. Retreating to creative escapism when burned out by real life to gain control of our desires. The movie hits you hard in the feels with Shizuko's imposter syndrome about writing. An artist’s first work is always imperfect, like a geode with jewels inside that need to be carved out and polished. I liked seeing where she got inspiration for brainstorming to spark her imagination for writing. The ending is swift, but sweet and realistic. Definitely worth a watch for anyone with writer's block or imposter syndrome. See more Read all reviews
