If you need to spot the narcissist lurking behind a friend or lover, this Maria Tomei bonbon may be just instructional romcom you’re looking for. She's great. The movie not so much. Go to Full Review

Tomei is undeniable, and she and Bravo forge an easy, believable chemistry as mother and daughter. That bond, and the gorgeous boutique hotel where much of the film takes place, are the biggest draws here. Go to Full Review

Because the movie never wants to grapple with the deep-seated issues of its protagonist, Marisa Tomei ends up portraying the most grating character of her career who would be a straight-up villain in another film. Go to Full Review

"You’re Dating a Narcissist!" teases itself as a smart and sincere anti-romcom. But the film quickly devolves into an unrelatable, formulaic, and borderline obnoxious swing-and-miss. Go to Full Review

I enjoyed the movie. It did a good job subverting tropes and talking about toxic dating while still keeping some hope and humor present Go to Full Review

Everyone involved makes eye-rolling ridiculous choices in an increasingly frantic pace because the contrivances demand silliness – self-aware women at their worst. Still, one tries to sympathize – until the complications become too sitcom-y. Go to Full Review

Mr Hollywood 15h Too by the numbers. Follows the rom com playbook. It forgot that by now it’s been played out See more Susan Lopez 2d A very simple movie and kept my interest. I would recommend the movie. See more Robert C 5d Marissa Tomei and Sherry Cola were wonderful. Dramatic, funny, and fun. See more GuyFiery 5d Marisa Tomei is a welcome sight. Sherry Cola is a gem. Ciara Bravo still looks twelve, which adds an interesting twist to her boyfriend (s). Cute story. Most of the men have accents. Supposed to be primarily set in California, wonder where it was shot See more Martha D @McDyer 2h The movie waits too long to explore the main character's feelings about how she ended up marrying a narcissist, so comes off one-note in the beginning, and it's a struggle to connect with her sincere panic over her daughter's apparently dangerous repeat of her own mistakes. By the end, I did have more compassion for her, as not being believed was a replay of her own past, and the movie finally explored her own complicated and harsh assessment of herself. While I don't know that I would recommend this as standard-fare entertainment, there are enough people for whom this story will resonate that I would recommend it as a way to talk about a real problem. It was good to see this specific relationship addressed openly, and given language for the conversation. It hit a lot of truths about being in a relationship with a narcissist. See more Sam B @SamtheBartender 10h It is SO GOOD!! I absolutely loved it. I laughed, I cried, I played detective trying to figure out who was right and who the "bad guy" was. So much fun!! See it if you know a mom who's too much sometimes. See it to enjoy the rush of young love. See it if you can identify with being in an up-and-down romantic relationship. See it to laugh as two best friends bond and get into trouble. See it if you're a Marisa Tomei fan -- and you'll become a fan of all the other incredible actors in this movie, too! It's entertaining, well-written, and cohesive. I can't wait to see it again and again!! See more Read all reviews
