Biography:

Chris Riches is the Daily Express's double award-winning Correspondent for North-West England and Wales, who leads on many of our newspaper's health justice campaigns. He previously worked at The Sun before joining the Daily Express in 2004 and is based in Manchester, covering news and features from the Midlands to Scotland and all across Wales.Chris has led a number of high-profile, successful health campaigns securing life-saving and life-changing drugs on the NHS for sufferers with rare conditions including Cystic Fibrosis and Phenylketonuria.In 2020 he won both the 'Press Gazette British Journalism Award for Campaigning Journalist of the Year' and also the 'Society of Editors Hugh Cudlipp Award for Campaigning Journalism'.He's spoken at a number of high-profile, national conferences on the role of media advocacy in winning health justice and also the positive effects of news media for social equality, most notably the 2022 Festival of News at the British Library.
