It is not a masterpiece of cinema, but it serves as excellent, lighthearted drive-in entertainment—especially if you enjoy bad movies with a heart. The entire movie gives off the vibe of an extended episode of Leave It To Beaver, with a twist of horror. And why am I not surprised it is a Bert I. Gordon movie? That's pretty much it right there. Nothing more needs to be said. It has a decent script even for a movie of this kind. The cast actually does a very good job in their respective roles. Love how the two teenage leads are named Carol and Mike by the way. The cast is why I am giving the movie a slightly higher rating that the two starts I had planned. That noise the spider makes when it approaches is odd to say the least. Sounds like the spider lost its asthma inhaler. The special effects are not too bad either. Not terrific, but good for the most part. In the end, if you are looking for something entertaining "Earth vs. the Spider" will provide what you are looking for, but you will probably forget about it soon thereafter.
