It’s been called ‘Stranger Things’ for seniors, but it’s so much more as Geena Davis and Alfred Molina lead a cast of A-listers as retirees who take on aliens, aging and a society that sees them as invisible. Go to Full Review

The Boroughs makes literal the fears we all have about obsolescence and the end of life – that we’ll all be shunted and hidden away in a special place when we’re no longer of any use, just waiting to die. Go to Full Review

The Boroughs is a brisk, confident, well-crafted entertainment, with moments that made me laugh and cry. Go to Full Review

But the real strength of The Boroughs is its cast - it's just so much fun to see actors of this caliber bounce off each other. the supernatural goings-on are merely the icing on the retirement cake. Go to Full Review

The villain arc is underdeveloped, but the pacing, imagery and themes work to fill in the gaps. Go to Full Review

Luckily for us, in the case of The Boroughs, the new series from Netflix, this stellar cast is presented with some pretty darn great writing (and directing, and make-up, and special effects) that let them really dive into the material. Go to Full Review

Flu T @RT49569883 7h Fun show, similar to stranger things but fairly basic writing and predictable plot. See more Ed C @BlueCollarCritic 8h A solid an fun 8 episode romp thru the possible Scifi like origin of the popular SUN CITY retirement communities everywhere today. Actor Alfred Molina does an outstanding job in the show. See more Marie G. @creepsandcrawls 9h It was good! Could have been a bit scarier but besides that loved. Kept me interested See more Deborah D @debsydubs 10h I absolutely loved this! I binged in 2 days The story was amazing and acting so good I personally enjoyed this better than Stranger Things Maybe cos I am a little older My son loves Sci Fi and I ask him if I don’t understand something This was a great story Hopefully there is a Season 2 but please writers take your time ❤️ See more Squid M @Squid2j 14h Wonderful performances and great to see some artists I have missed over the years. Moreover, at the risk of being a grouchy old timer, it is much appreciated to have some screen time given to my generation and not just to those less wrinkled. If I haven't given higher rating it is only because I wished for a more balanced portrayal of males and females in the series. For one thing, the male characters are depicted as givers of love, mourning, forgiving, and making sacrifices for the women in their lives, but the female characters are less developed, coming across as recipients of adoration and behaving somewhat more self-centered. For another, I acknowledge parthenogenesis, but I would have liked that there was a "father" to go with "mother" because a screen shoutout to fathers would have been nice. See more Legion R @Xyler 16h A fantastic, rock-solid sci-fi series and a massive step in the right direction for the genre. Audiences are completely exhausted by the cliché of unbelievable teenagers solving world-ending threats that only adults could sensibly handle. Replacing the usual teen drama with a stellar, believable cast of elders in a retirement home makes the mystery feel grounded, earned, and incredibly refreshing. The Boroughs is exactly what the sci-fi mystery genre needed. It feels like a massive relief to watch a show that doesn't rely on the tired trope of unbelievable teens miraculously doing things only adults or professionals should sensibly be able to do. Anchoring the supernatural chaos with legendary, believable actors like Alfred Molina, Alfre Woodard, and Geena Davis gives the story actual weight. It’s a solid, smart series that respects the audience's intelligence. See more Read all reviews
