03/16/2013 A missed opportunity. There are lots of interesting places it could have gone, but lacking an overall focus works more as an overview of the material. See more 01/12/2012 An interesting tale of a prolific "artist" who makes terrible music with intriguing album covers and tells so little about himself that he makes the rock critics all desire to see more. Would have been more interesting if it included footage of Jandek who I believe has made a number of public appearances post film. See more 03/13/2009 This is a great introduction to Jandek and the mystery surrounding him if you're a newcomer to his work or outsider music in general . It feels kind of unnecessary if you're already a fan, though. And since no one involved in the film really knows much of anything about him, 90 minutes of pure speculation feels like too much. The 1985 interview with him was interesting though, showing him as a much more normal guy than a lot of his fans would want to believe. See more 02/18/2009 A pretty interesting documentary on the mysterious representative of Corwood Industries and the daddy of all outsider musicians, I personally don't mind him - but it's essential viewing for fans. It's a little dated now seeing as he's been performing live since '04 but it's still worth a look, it got me listening to alot of his music which I had only breezed through before.
