Anaconda (2025) Dan Murrell It succeeds at what it wants to be, which is a dumb, silly, fun comedy.

Marty Supreme (2025) Dan Murrell As Marty Supreme recklessly veered around its twists and turns, I didn’t know if it would end in triumph or disaster, but I was glued to the screen to find out

Weapons (2025) Dan Murrell Sometimes a slow burn leads to a spectacular explosion. Sometimes it fizzles out. Weapons does both, and which one of those impresses/angers you the most will ultimately decide where you fall on the movie.

Together (2025) Dan Murrell It's easy to assume that this is yet another ‘elevated horror’ movie but I’d actually say this is ‘elevated schlock,’ and I don’t mean that as insult.

8.2/10
The Naked Gun (2025) Dan Murrell It's worthy of the comedy legacy of the original Naked Gun movies and the other ZAZ movies that preceded it. In the comedy world, I can’t think of higher praise.

Happy Gilmore 2 (2025) Dan Murrell Happy Gilmore 2 is at its best when it moves on from cheap gags and cameos to some of the absurdist humor that I’ve always loved from Sandler’s comedies. If the script had been more focused, this could have compared more favorably to the original.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps (2025) Dan Murrell Easily in the top tier of the MCU’s post-Endgame output and it’s a solid start to this new phase for Marvel. First Steps lays a good foundation to build on as Marvel tries to reinvent itself coming out of the stumbles of the Disney+ era.

4/10
I Know What You Did Last Summer (2025) Dan Murrell A big ball of nothing, attaching a familiar name and a couple of familiar faces to a tired formula in order wring few dollars out of my wallet...In an era where franchises like Scream have been able to make a comeback, that’s a real shame.

6.5/10
Eddington (2025) Dan Murrell Aster is throwing so many ideas at the canvas that it’s tough to decide if it’s Jackson Pollock-like brilliance or just a big old mess. I think it leans closer to the Pollock side, but I can’t deny that it's messy.

5/10
Superman (2025) Dan Murrell You don’t have to convince me that Superman is great, but you do have to show me why, in 2025, I should be invested in THIS version...We get tons of world building and looking to the future at the expense of right now.

5/10
Jurassic World Rebirth (2025) Dan Murrell Jurassic World Rebirth is a return to form in some ways for the franchise and also a maddening continuation of what I don't like about this series. At least it's not about locusts.

8.8/10
Elio (2025) Dan Murrell Elio really takes off in the second half and transforms from a solid animated movie into a great sci-fi adventure.

7/10
28 Years Later (2025) Dan Murrell A good survival drama that tonally, narratively, and in almost every other way is completely different than 28 Days and 28 Weeks later, which will invigorate some and turn off others.

F1 The Movie (2025) Dan Murrell F1 is great visual stimulation, if not intellectual stimulation. I enjoyed it, but I mourn for the great movie we could have had with a little more effort on the script.

How to Train Your Dragon (2025) Dan Murrell A fantastic movie for the entire family...solid, entertaining summer moviemaking.

Predator: Killer of Killers (2025) Dan Murrell Killer of Killers joins the original film and Prey in the upper tier of Predator films with a pretty big gulf below them.

7/10
Ballerina (2025) Dan Murrell On an action level, Ballerina delivers. While it’s not as consistently high-level as the rest of the John Wick movies, there are sequences that are among my favorite in the franchise

8.8/10
Sinners (2025) Dan Murrell Ryan Coogler has said that he put more of himself on the screen in Sinners than ever before. If this is the result, I hope that he does it more often.

8/10
Warfare (2025) Dan Murrell There’s no rousing score, or pump-you-up speeches, or shots of the American flag blowing in the breeze. Just blood and bullets and dust and and screaming.

5/10
Disney's Snow White (2025) Dan Murrell A muddled, confused, puzzling film that is yet another example of Disney’s overall lack of creative direction or really any idea of what its various divisions actually want to be doing.

6/10
Captain America: Brave New World (2025) Dan Murrell The clean edges of the good parts make the rough edges of the not-so-good parts even more obvious. What could have been an all-time great MCU movie seems to have been lost somewhere in the process.

One of Them Days (2025) Dan Murrell One of Them Days had me laughing frequently and throughout the movie as these two kept hitting one obstacle after another, some self-imposed and some not.

Wolf Man (2025) Dan Murrell Wolf Man isn't a game changer, but it's a worthy addition into the werewolf canon

7/10
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (2024) Dan Murrell I'd happily watch it again with younger family members - which is certainly something I can't say about every kids' movie.

5.5/10
The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim (2024) Dan Murrell A perfectly fine animated film that may leave Lord of the Rings fans disappointed or underwhelmed.

7/10
A Complete Unknown (2024) Dan Murrell Strong performances all around. Maybe the mystery of Bob Dylan was never meant to be unraveled but I wish the film had tried to do that a little bit more.

2/10
Kraven the Hunter (2024) Dan Murrell Kraven the Hunter is a very, very bad movie.

9/10
Nosferatu (2024) Dan Murrell It's big, it's grandiose, it's gothic, it's epic - and it works.
Posted Dec 08, 2024Edit critic review
8.5/10
Wicked (2024) Dan Murrell Jon M. Chu marries the reality of a stage production with the more fantastical elements that a movie version allows you to do, and it's a great combination.

4/10
Megalopolis (2024) Dan Murrell Technically impressive but narratively weak. It's like a Happening-era M. Night Shyamalan script directed by James Cameron.

6/10
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (2024) Dan Murrell If you’re looking for style, laughs, and great Beetlejuice moments, it delivers. If you’re looking for a movie that matches or compares to the original, I think you may be let down.

7/10
Late Night with the Devil (2023) Dan Murrell An entertaining watch, short on jump scares and big on atmosphere, with a few moments that you may think of in those dark, quiet times at night when you’re most susceptible to being creeped out.

6.5/10
Sting (2024) Dan Murrell While it’s not an all-time classic, it is a fun and breezy 90-minute watch with some great gore moments, cheeky set-up and pay-off sequences, and genuinely good performances from a talented cast.

8.5/10
Civil War (2024) Dan Murrell A human story, not a political one...In choosing to follow a group of journalists, Civil War takes the focus off the why of the war and puts it on the effects of the war.

The First Omen (2024) Dan Murrell The First Omen is actually evocative of and feels like a worthy predecessor to Richard Donner’s original film. Far beyond the cheap, phoned-in cash grab that the studio's been treating it as.

2/10
Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey II (2024) Dan Murrell Money can buy a lot of blood and prosthetics, but it can't buy imagination. The cinematic equivalent of a get-rich-quick scheme.

5/10
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (2024) Dan Murrell The first Ghostbusters movie that feels obligatory, scattershot and devoid of any real soul.

8.8/10
Dune: Part Two (2024) Dan Murrell I know that people use this as a meme, but, whatever. This is cinema. This is why big screen cinematic experiences exist.

Madame Web (2024) Dan Murrell It's like a love letter to an era of superhero films that people largely want to forget.

7/10
Lisa Frankenstein (2024) Dan Murrell A lot of people showing up expecting to say 'awwww' may end up saying 'uuuugh.' Much more for the Heathers crowd than the Twilight crowd. I think it's a more interesting direction.

5/10
Argylle (2024) Dan Murrell There are so many twists and turns that it trains you not to trust anybody or anything you see on screen. For some people, that's exhilarating but for me, it was exhausting.

7/10
Mean Girls (2024) Dan Murrell Much like the characters, when this version of Mean Girls stops pretending to be something that it's not, it's able to find its true self.

A-
The Creator (2023) Dan Murrell One of my favorite movies of 2023. An epic sci-fi vision in the tradition of 2001: A Space Odyssey, Blade Runner, Arrival, Children of Men and Ex Machina.

Disenchanted (2022) Dan Murrell Manages to stay a step above being a retread, mostly thanks to Adams’ whole-hearted embrace of the new side of Giselle we get to see.

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (2022) Dan Murrell A perfect blend of actors who put their own stamp on their characters. Rian Johnson gives us a worthy follow-up to the 2019 original.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022) Dan Murrell A good Marvel film with great parts. More focus could have yielded a more powerful film.

Weird: The Al Yankovic Story (2022) Dan Murrell Delightfully silly with no ego or pretension, Weird is fearlessly dumb and well-executed.

Hellraiser (2022) Dan Murrell A well-executed Hellraiser movie...if you like Hellraiser movies. It's on a different wavelength than what I usually enjoy.

Halloween Ends (2022) Dan Murrell In a trilogy that should've just been one movie, I guess it's fitting that the last movie is three movies in one.
