11/11/2021 The only thing the movie has in common with the books is a few character names. Too bad. They missed an opportunity. The books are amazing. See more 09/16/2017 I am a big Hallmark junkie, however, I turned this off after 15 minutes. (Something I've only done one other time with Hallmark movies.) It was as if the actors had phoned it in. Very boring to watch. Then I realized that this was supposed to be the first from Jan Karon's Midford Years series, so I turned it bck on and forced myself to watch it all. It was so poorly cast that it was unrecognizable. None of the characters matched the book. Had the writers of this show even read the book? Andie MacDowell acted like she had a headache the whole time.Lindsey Wagner would have been a wonderful choice for Cindy. It was just awful. Cameron Mathison was way too young and thin. Someone like Ron Lea would have been so much better. And Dooley had absolutely no personality at all! Please don't make any sequels! See more 08/29/2017 Hallmark's At Home in Mitford bears no resemblance to Jan Karon's book, except for the characters' names. All the heart has been sucked out and replaced with a dull love story between 2 very good-looking people. Yawn. Anyone who read the books should be furious at this sadly lame attempt. Jan Karon, what were you thinking to allow this? It was like Hallmark just bought the name. Avoid at all costs! See more 08/24/2017 This is another Hallmark movie that pairs a 59 yr old woman with a much much younger man, (47). They do this over and over and it ruins the movie, making it unbelievable. the sub plot of the little boy, Dooley, has been totally changed to sanitize his life for tepid consumption. But worst of all is the loss of all the excellent humor in the book series. I remember laughing out loud as I read, and this movie is predictable and slow moving, without the wit.
