When recently unemployed accountant Brian (Kevin James) agrees to a playdate with charismatic stay-at-home dad Jeff (Alan Ritchson) and their sons, he expects an easy afternoon of small talk and football tossing. Instead, he's thrust into a chaotic scramble to stay alive as they are pursued by a ruthless team of mercenaries. Brian stumbles through one ridiculous obstacle after another, his zero tactical skills a stark contrast to Jeff's oddly prepared demeanor. Director Luke Greenfield (Let's Be Cops, The Girl Next Door) hilariously collides suburban dad life with high-stakes thrills, transforming an ordinary afternoon into an absurd action-packed adventure where minivan mayhem meets professional hitmen.

The final act loses steam, but there’s comic lunacy here worthy of MacGruber. Go to Full Review

Playdate isn’t a movie. It’s a compendium of clichés in search of one. What’s even worse is that the clichés are so stale. Go to Full Review

Alan Ritchson and Kevin James are perfectly mismatched to create an endearing and heartwarming duo who, despite the dysfunction, build a dynamic and charismatic pairing that’s the perfect mix of dumb and fun. Go to Full Review

Vinny P @Vrproa 17h The amount of hate this movie gets by a bunch of pansy neck beards. This movie is hysterical and a fun reminder of 80s buddy cop movies. See more Boog J. @barackoboogie 1d Zach Harper, a real piece of bingos. See more Kyle M 1d A familiar outing that doesn’t warrant the chaos, curbed by coerced gags, labeling this solely for laughs and it mostly works mainly thanks to the amusing dynamic between Ritchson’s comedic embrace and James’ familiar reactiveness. Nothing needs to be serious all the time !!! and this movie captures that nicely, also the insecurities and glories of fatherhood the movie briefly touched on ??was very sweet. Ultimately it was still pretty entertaining and nice to watch even if I never had kids and I’m only 18 it still keeps you captured. Love the 2010s action movie cliche something we’ve been kinda missing. See more A M C @Maria577 Jan 26 I have seen it 3 times already. No kids. But found it funny, esp with the bit w kids on caffeine - looks like me sometimes. See more Read all reviews
