Rebecca (2020) Ephie Cozza While I enjoyed untangling every mysterious thread of this film, the story is definitely bordering on convoluted...after so many underwhelming plot twists, I start to lose trust in a film.

The Devil All the Time (2020) Ephie Cozza Instills a lot of curiosity about what the point of the film might be, but other than making an unsettling spectacle of corruptible faith, it's a bit bleak.

Chemical Hearts (2020) Ephie Cozza I still feel a strong connection to the teenage girl who felt too much, who sometimes wasn't very attached to the idea of being alive, who experienced the hardships of first love, and this movie was made for that girl.

Bill & Ted Face the Music (2020) Ephie Cozza It was fun to see Bill & Ted go on another excellent adventure, but without the heart and charm of the original duology, it doesn't have much to say.

Spree (2020) Ephie Cozza A slap in the face to the internet-based human race, but I think we kind of deserve it.

Palm Springs (2020) Ephie Cozza This is probably one of my favorite movies of 2020 so far. It's everything that i wanted it to be. I loved every second of it. I would watch it a million more times.

Yes, God, Yes (2019) Ephie Cozza A smart and honest coming-of-age teen sex comedy.

The Usual Suspects (1995) Ephie Cozza In all of my heist movies research, and all of the things that I've watched recently, I think The Usual Suspects might be the best heist movie of all time.

Westworld (1973) Ephie Cozza It just felt like a cheesy 70s Western with like a sci-fi twist, but it was enjoyable, it was fun to see where the show originated.

Grindhouse Presents: Death Proof (2007) Ephie Cozza It's very character driven, it's very action and thrill driven, it also has a really interesting aesthetic.

The Invisible Man (2020) Ephie Cozza The things that I really loved the most about it are the cinematography and the direction.

Bloodshot (2020) Bill Watters When "The Mummy" ran Universal's Dark Universe plans right off the rails and people said, wow we've never seen anything sideline a franchise so quickly? Well here's Columbia Pictures with "Bloodshot" saying, "hold my beer".

The Invisible Man (2020) Bill Watters Rare is it that one of the classic tales from the golden age gets a solid re-imagining, but this is one of those times. It's a more intimate story rather than madman wanting to rule the world, and it [mostly] works.

3/5
Sonic the Hedgehog (2020) Ephie Cozza There's not a ton of character development or a ton of depth to the characters aside from Sonic, who is weirdly relatable, but it's also about as deep as a kid's movie should be.

3.5/5
Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) (2020) Bill Watters Birds of Prey has a shaky start, gets a bit too infatuated with its own kitschy conceits, but when it settles in to the characters quieter stories and the main action, it nails it.

Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) (2020) Ephie Cozza It was a steady combination of dark and fun, and while the film is kind of just a fun joyride, I do think the performances were done perfectly and the cast was pretty spot-on.

2.5/5
The Gentlemen (2019) Bill Watters Guy Ritchie spends far too much time telling the audience how clever he is rather than actually being clever.

3/5
Underwater (2020) Bill Watters I came out of Underwater quite happy that they kept it moving, tense, and not giving you enough time during its 90 minute length to poke too hard at the story. It's not a great film, but it delivers what the trailers promised.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019) Ephie Cozza It was just a lot of unexplained tension. You can't just make a suspenseful dramatic scene without making me care.

1917 (2019) Bill Watters 1917 does an amazing thing - it reminds us of the wonder of moviemaking in a time where CGI has all be robbed us from the ability to ever be wowed anymore.

1/5
Cats (2019) Bill Watters Ill-concieved and ill-executed, this incarnation of Cats leans in on the effects to the expense of most of the performances.
Posted Dec 19, 2019Edit critic review
4/5
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019) Bill Watters [Spoiler-Free] After 42 years, the original saga's story arc has come to a close, and it winds up doing it in a solid (if imperfect) fashion and does so while marching to the beat of their own vision.
Posted Dec 18, 2019Edit critic review
The Irishman (2019) Ephie Cozza Their dialogue is so authentic, so real, and the way that they just bounce off of each other in this hypnotizing but also unsynchronized sort of way, it's just fascinating.
Posted Dec 16, 2019Edit critic review
Zombieland: Double Tap (2019) Ephie Cozza It's very predictable, everything is just boring, the jokes don't land as well.
Posted Dec 16, 2019Edit critic review
Doctor Sleep (2019) Ephie Cozza The cast was phenomenal, the story itself was just very invigorating and full of plot twists.
Posted Dec 16, 2019Edit critic review
Jojo Rabbit (2019) Ephie Cozza It was so much fun, it was hilarious, it was incredibly clever and witty, and the writing in this film is so delicious.
Posted Dec 16, 2019Edit critic review
Klaus (2019) Ephie Cozza The animation is beautiful, the story is beautiful, the music is beautiful.
Posted Dec 16, 2019Edit critic review
5/5
Joker (2019) Ephie Cozza It's twisted, it's funny, it's disturbing, but beautiful.

3/5
Jumanji: The Next Level (2019) Bill Watters This time around the novelty has faded, but there's still some fun to be had watching The Rock and friends effectively running around having a great time playing in a LARP.

4/5
Knives Out (2019) Bill Watters If you are a fan of the classic style of murder-mystery whodoneits - Knives out, with a brilliant cast and sharp writing, is a brilliant effort by director/writer Rian Johnson.

4.5/5
A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood (2019) Bill Watters It could have been such a caricature of Mr. Rogers, but you find that the central story arc isn't about him, but about an avatar of a cynical-world everyman that the audience can't help but be swept up into discovering there is some good in the world.

4/5
Ford v Ferrari (2019) Bill Watters One might wish that it didn't feel quite so contrived as an award season vehicle, but in the end that doesn't stand in its way of being a really captivating racing and character drama.

4/5
Doctor Sleep (2019) Bill Watters Doctor Sleep succeeds in not trying to improve on its predecessor and instead stands as something different. Best described Doctor Sleep is the Aliens to The Shining's Alien.

3.5/5
Terminator: Dark Fate (2019) Bill Watters Finally we get a Terminator that can be a respectable sequel to Terminator 2. Davis works solidly along Hamilton as an action hero and the script injects the right amount of humor to keep things moving along.

Countdown (2019) Bill Watters With it's PG-13 rating, for a YA audience who still thinks Stranger Things can get creepy, and are looking for a fun time, Countdown is a serviceable bundle of jumps and laughs.

4/5
Zombieland: Double Tap (2019) Bill Watters This time around the comedy focuses on the people and their relationships more than it does on poking fun at the Zombies, and that keeps it from being just a rehash and elevates it to being almost as fun as Shawn of the Dead.

1.5/5
Gemini Man (2019) Bill Watters Some impressive de-aging effects can't help save a pedestrian and uninspired "agent wants to hang up his gun peacefully" story.

5/5
Joker (2019) Bill Watters Once again the role of the Joker gives another actor the role of their career. It's dark, non-comic like, and an amazing experience, though not anything like what we've seen from DC before. And in this case, that's a good thing.

The Peanut Butter Falcon (2019) Ephie Cozza The performances were great, the writing is really clever and really funny and really cute.

3/5
Hustlers (2019) Bill Watters A solid cast led by a near career-high performance by Jennifer Lopez is a good character piece, but isn't quite the film that trailers will have enticed people into the theater to see.

It: Chapter Two (2019) Ephie Cozza I think the best part of this film is the cast. They cast the most perfect ensemble of actors to play this grown-up version of these kids because they look exactly the same.

Ready or Not (2019) Ephie Cozza It was funny, it was scary, it was gruesome, it was stressful, it was thrilling and it was just so fun to watch this movie.

2/5
Angel Has Fallen (2019) Bill Watters The first one was fun, the second started with a bang and left with a whimper, this time they never get off the ground. Mixing in an addiction storyline and then forgetting it halfway through tells you all you need to know.

Good Boys (2019) Ephie Cozza The kids have such a great chemistry together, they're all so funny and so unique in their own respective ways.

Booksmart (2019) Ephie Cozza It has a perfect balance of comedy and ridiculousness mixed with heart and compassion and growth.

4/5
Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (2019) Ephie Cozza The movie really captures the feeling and the tone of the original stories, there are some disturbing visuals... and the story was good, it was consistently suspenseful and terrifying.

Once Upon a Time... In Hollywood (2019) Ephie Cozza Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio's chemistry is just amazing on screen. They were so entertaining, super funny, the dialogue is really witty. Probably the funniest Tarantino movie ever.

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (2019) Bill Watters So many horror films these days are just thrillers set at night. Or a simple gore fest without little style. With a PG-13, del Toro and team deliver a Ghost Story style of horror and develop a great intro to the genre for a new generation (of all ages)

4.5/5
The Art of Self-Defense (2019) Ephie Cozza It's very, very dark, but the balance of darkness and comedy is so great...this just nails it.

2.5/5
Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (2019) Bill Watters Hobbs & Shaw delivers on the type of film Fast & Furious fans love: cheesy action whose stars have a blast chewing up the sets. It's held back by playing in the spy genre where the John Wick's of the world have already moved the bar far downfield.
