In a violent, near-apocalyptic Detroit, evil corporation Omni Consumer Products wins a contract from the city government to privatize the police force. To test their crime-eradicating cyborgs, the company leads street cop Alex Murphy (Peter Weller) into an armed confrontation with crime lord Boddicker (Kurtwood Smith) so they can use his body to support their untested RoboCop prototype. But when RoboCop learns of the company's nefarious plans, he turns on his masters.

The very definition of "cyberpunk." Visceral, raw, elaborate, memorable... Murphy and Lewis truly deserve to be remembered as protagonists. The themes explored are relevant and will leave you pondering. I feel this film can continue to captivate audiences just as it did on its release. From the start, I understood why it was such a critically acclaimed film. But, I'm sorry, I can't defend the special effects of the robot created by the company... they're awful. I know what year it's from, but I can't justify it, not after having seen older films like Alien or Planet of the Apes. I'm Gen Z, but I can't excuse those scenes by saying it was the technology of the time. I blame myself...

Very entertaining. This is a gem from the 80's, with dated visuals but still nice. Packed with action. Good script and direction. A legendary film that is still a staple of today's pop culture.
