This is the story of Aladar, an iguanodon dinosaur raised by a family of lemurs. Their world is turned upside-down however, when meteors strike, turning their green world into a desert wasteland. Teaming up with a herd of other herbivores, the trek is on to find the "Nesting Ground" where water and vegetation are bountiful... but with carnivores behind them and nothing but desert around for miles, it doesn't look promising!

When it was released, it marked a major step forward in blending CGI characters with realistic environments, creating a visual style that still holds up surprisingly well. The story is simple but effective, following dinosaurs fighting to survive against extinction, and it works because of its emotional sincerity. The characters are easy to connect with, the stakes feel real, and the journey keeps you invested from start to finish. There’s heart, tension, and a strong sense of perseverance woven throughout. It’s strange how easily this film is forgotten, even though Disney once dedicated an entire theme park attraction to it. Watching it now is a reminder of how powerful and engaging it really is. It’s a kids movie, and that sums it up pretty well. It's relatively condensed and the ending feels rushed, but the characters are likable and the movie enjoyable, especially for a kid obsessed with dinosaurs. It's nothing special or unique compared to others kids movies of this era, in either story or animation though, and so I think it will have to suffer in score as a result.
