What to Know

Critics Consensus

Despite the presence of Halle Berry and Bruce Willis, Perfect Stranger is too convoluted to work, and features a twist ending that's irritating and superfluous. It's a techno-thriller without thrills.

The movie doesn't add up to much: the plot meanders, there are too many red herrings, and the end doesn't really justify the means. Go to Full Review

The movie shows that the only thing worse than a generically screwy thriller is one with a selective narrator -- and one that doesn't give viewers a fair chance to play along. Go to Full Review

Columbia seems to be on a one-studio mission to revive that very '90s of film genres, the erotic thriller--or are they determined to kill it off for good, considering such poor efforts as this listless Halle Berry vehicle? Go to Full Review

M A @RT25218740 4d Halle Berry was amazing in this movie. Definitely watch it and ignore the critics. Such a tense well scripted movie. I was giggling at times too. 5/5. See more Aluna U @RT14704568 Sep 30 Perfect Stranger delivers a suspenseful and engaging mystery with unpredictable twists and a well-structured storyline, though some plot elements stretch logic. While strong performances and polished visuals support the narrative, rushed resolutions and a few implausible scenes slightly weaken the impact. Still, it's a solid watch for mystery lovers seeking tension and intrigue. Halle Berry delivers a strong performance, and the entire cast does a great job keeping the suspense alive. The film is beautifully made, and the twist at the end really caught me by surprise — it was clever and satisfying. A great watch for fans of psychological thrillers. See more Ralph R @RT14837316 02/13/2025 Perfect Stranger is one of those movies that tries to be a slick psychological thriller but ends up feeling like a mess of half-baked ideas. The plot starts off with potential, setting up an intriguing mystery, but the execution is all over the place. Instead of building suspense naturally, it throws in forced twists and unnecessary subplots that make the story feel scattered rather than engaging. The script is weak, with awkward dialogue and unnatural character interactions that make it hard to take seriously. The directing and cinematography choices don’t help either. The framing is weird, with tight close-ups that often cut off the tops of actors' heads, making the whole thing visually frustrating. The performances feel underwhelming, especially Bruce Willis, who seems uninterested in the role. Even Halle Berry, who is usually solid, struggles with the material. The film tries to create tension through its score and sound design, but it never really lands. Instead of enhancing the atmosphere, it just highlights how flat everything feels. Overall, Perfect Stranger feels more like a wasted opportunity than a gripping thriller. See more Ed V @IainBellocks007 01/01/2025 Solid late night throwaway film. Masterfully Schlocky.
