Mike Meyers’ parody of classic James Bond movies and various 1960s copycats like Matt Helm and Derek Flint careens from gag to gag with such pop art color and energy that you don’t really mind that it misses the target so often.

AUSTIN POWERS 1 is an indisputable comedy classic, and its many giddy, goofy charms still totally hold up today, bolstered in no small part by the incomparable Elizabeth Hurley. Shagadelic!

Jumping from the James Bond franchise to Austin Powers was the perfect way to approach these films. The opening dance is iconic, the 007 jokes are witty (Random Task) and Mike Myers is hilarious in each of his roles. Pure, dumb, comedy. Some of the jokes were a bit raunchy for my taste, but I liked more than I didn't like. Best Character: Dr. Evil Best Quote: "You know, I have one simple request, and that is to have sharks with frickin' laser beams attached to their heads! Now, evidently, my cycloptic colleague informs me that that can't be done. Uh, can you remind me what I pay you people for?
