It's 2006, and George -- a small-town sixteen-year-old -- is on the road to complete social and academic failure. He dreams of being a star, knows he's a gifted musician -- but no one else seems to agree.... So, when Max -- the son of a mega-famous musical duo -- enrolls at his school and takes an interest in his music, George can't believe it! Neither can anyone else. But as the boys grow closer, George begins to question why he actually wants to spend time with Max, finding himself faced with a dream-come-true scenario... if only he knew what his dream-come-true really is.

There’s certainly nothing offensive or dislikeable on show here, but there’s similarly very little to arrest our attention. It’s a nice way to spend a few hours, but so is going for a walk.

A sweet, albeit slight, queer coming out film featuring a cast of likeable actors, virtually zero stakes, and a typical British ending. Great for filling in the void left by Heartstopper and Sex Education.

Bonus Track can be a little sugary but not every queer coming of age story needs to be mired in trauma. Queer kids deserve their fantastic romances too, and that’s what Bonus Track delivers.

As an LGBTQ+ romance and a coming-of-age story, Bonus Track does enough to make the feel-good elements stand out. While it borrows from other stories, Jackman executes the ideas at a high level.

An inspiring film with no sex, no nudity, no special effects, no death, no sick kids and no car chases or violence? BONUS TRACK !! A great film not to be missed for the sheer joy it brings and loving parents who accept their child for who he is. AWESOME!

George Bobbin is a shy, underperforming teenager who hasn't quite found his way yet. What he does know is he loves music. Then along comes Max, the son of a famous rock duo who have just recently separated leaving Max to live with his mom in Yorkshire where he meets George at his new school. Maxs' captivating smile seems to immediately get George's attention while Max seems to be magnetically drawn to George. Max befriends George offering to help him with his musical desire to enter the end of year talent show. While both have music in common, they find that as their friendship grows their attraction to each other does as well. Relentlessly pursued by the ever intrusive press, Max makes the hard decision to move with his father in London far away from Yorkshire and George. George has to learn to step up for what he believes in, and break the shy nature he has grown so comfortable with. Bonus Track is a fun, light-hearted romantic comedy that will leave you just a little bit obsessed George and Max and they're budding romance. I found myself rewatching scenes that touched my heart and I think you will too. There's something so charming about Max, played by Samuel Small, that leaves you wanting to see him more. His confident demeanor is strong throughout the film until one scene when he shows his vulnerability making him that much more relatable. This will definitely be one of my favorite coming of age movies for years to come.
