Joshua L @RT33482549 31m I provided all the gear and equipment for both the Bob Dylan biopic "A complete unknown" as well as Springsteen biopic, "deliver me from nowhere." Working on set everyday, you must know what audio equipment is not only period correct but what gear was out used to create these iconic sounds we all know and love today. We should take this extremely seriously for the fans. However, This film is by far, the most apathetic and erroneous display of disregard to that end I’ve ever seen, hands down. The studio uses "the API THE BOX" console (first introduced in 2013), modern digital apogee converters, modern mics and all super modern outboard gear. The monitors are brand new 2024 Barefoot footprint 002 monitors and focals!!! How dare they do this??? There’s plenty of vintage analogy studios that could’ve used instead but the props dept clearly didn’t care whatsoever about how the music was made or who is watching. From the fake Radio City Music Hall to the fake songs that she auditions with to the lack of Full-Force, everything feels inauthentic. "I Wonder If..." was a game-changing record, and she was a game-changing artist. I'm sorry she couldn't make herself a better movie; the whole point of being the one to tell your own story is to be able to really tell it. Regardless I love lisa and her music including her solo. She deserved a well-made docudrama that truly honored her legacy. Unfortunately, this project missed the mark. The lead performances are very weak, the script lacks incredible depth, and the direction suffers from narrative misfocus. Instead of centering Lisa Lisa and the actual members of Cult Jam, the story shifts strangely toward her friend Toni, a supporting figure whose role in Lisa’s life and career is overstated here. This supporting character overshadowing not only minimizes Lisa Lisa’s real story, but it also sidelines Cult Jam’s importance entirely. The final result feels like a ameture film and off-balance. It comes across more like something made for Tubi verse Netflix. Rather than a thoughtful, well-researched tribute to an iconic artist who deserved better I felt like I lost time. The only interesting new information which was way more important than "Toni" was her challenges with health.
