The winter holidays are turning out to be especially stressful for Greg Heffley this year. After accidentally damaging a snowplow while making a snowman with best friend Rowley Jefferson, Greg worries he won't get the new video game console he so desperately wants for Christmas. We love Greg’s egotism and love it even more when he realizes he’s been kind of a jerk to people who care about him. As long as the animated movies continue to understand that, they can keep going for as long as the novels have.

Criticisms - Frustrating Start: Greg's greed and mischief dominate the first half. - Somewhat Flawed: Parents seem clueless, and lying is portrayed. - Animation Looks Cheap: Compared to higher-budget films. Verdict A mixed bag requiring patience, but the final message of sacrifice is worth sharing. Decent, clean family entertainment.
