Two friends, Richard ‘Richie’ Jerimovich and Michael ‘Mikey’ Berzatto, go on a work trip to Gary, Indiana in this flashback episode of FX’s “The Bear.” Taking place before Carmen ‘Carmy’ Berzatto must leave the fine dining world to help save his family’s Chicago sandwich shop and its strong-willed kitchen staff in the wake of his brother’s tragic suicide, not to mention having to navigate his strained familial relationships while balancing the soul-crushing realities of small business ownership, this episode offers an intimate look at the friendship between Richie and Mikey and sheds light on one of their lifechanging adventures.

Excellent acting per usual but boring storyline. It should have been an episode of The Bear but instead it was a short movie that really didn't have much story at all.

What was seemingly supposed to offer insight into the characters' psyches feels neither interesting nor rewarding here, and is nothing that hasn't already been portrayed before in scenes with Bernthal in seasons prior, with any attempts to present fresh ideas being locked behind tedious storytelling.

An excellent episode purely about character development. It isn't supposed plot driven. We see Mikey as a product of all the terrible things his mother displays "later". Richie is an unfiltered, unsober, turned up to 11 version of what we see in The Bear. It is raw, painful, and wonderfully made. If you turned it off before the bar scene, you got about 15% of the essence of this episode.

Dropped it after 20 minutes - pointless - whatever the Bear had that worked was lost, and it really took a sappy downturn. Gary is just a further extension of that disappointment. Sick of the whole "heart of gold but hopelessly damaged" characters trope. It's boring now - get it together, people.

utter bear crapola. the moss guy is the stupidest "actor" in the history of acting. pointless dumb morons go for a car ride. enough of this jeremy allen dumbass, a french taught chef who couldn't run a sandwich shop, blow it out your azz jer. absolutely nothing happens and the bald guy acts like a sissy, the end. go trim your nosehairs instead.
