If I'm Not There is less affecting than Anton Corbijn's cool-headed, chronological Ian Curtis biopic Control, the year's other notable musician portrait, it rewards repeat viewing like few previous biographical features.

It could be argued no such film could be made about any other performer than Dylan, so relevant, omnipresent and productive across so many decades. But this shapeless glob about creative tendencies toward contradiction and chaos has no direction home.

Big dylan fan here even though the guy is and always has been unappreciative of his fans. I tried to watch this mess but couldn't get past the 30 minute mark.

Honestly just a weird-ahh movie. It's one of those really avant-garde things that makes people say, "It was....interesting." My teenage daughter spent the entirety of the film going "What the frick is happening? I'm so confused rn" which is basically the definition of this movie, so heads-up. I'm sure this is some peoples' jam, and good for them, so if you're that specific kind of artsy type, go ahead, but if you're looking for an informative, straightforward, or true to reality sort of movie, this is not it.

This completley breaks the biopic formula you won't get a whole lot out of this if you don't know much about Bob Dylan.But you will probably still like it.

Todd Haynes's experimental I'm Not There is more disparate than most music biopics - pseudo or otherwise - but is ultimately able to find the ethos of Bob Dylan's mystique.

This is a horrible movie. I'm a huge Bob Dylan fan. I've tried to watch this movie on 3 different occasions. Turned it off each time. Great cast. Terrible film.

I love this film, in all its aspects. But of course it's all about the US dysfunction. That started with the European invasion, got worse and worse with the morbid consumption, and greed. The "white man's" megalomania. It's collective suicide, and the only survivors will be those who listen to the natives.
