The stars are gone. The planets have disappeared. Only individuals aboard space stations or starships were left to give the end a name -- The Quiet Rapture. After decades of decay and crumbling infrastructure, the Consolidation of Iron has made a discovery on a barren moon designated AT-5. An ocean of blood. Hoping to discover desperately needed resources they immediately launch an expedition. A submarine is crafted and a convict is welded inside. Due to the pressure and depth of the ocean the forward viewport has been encased in metal. If successful, they will earn their freedom. If not, another will follow. This will be the 13th expedition.

There’s not a lot of plot here, certainly not enough to sustain a full two hours. And those previously unacquainted with the game are likely to make little sense of the few things that do happen. Go to Full Review

Fischbach holds steady before the camera; more money and bigger sets will doubtless come his way. But he can’t pull off the dramatic heavy lifting required to convert a short film’s worth of plot into a watchable feature. Go to Full Review

“Iron Lung” is audacious and at times astonishingly boring. Still, it feels more enthusiastic and celebratory than many blockbuster adaptations built on safer math. Go to Full Review

The movie really makes you feel like you're trapped inside an iron lung. Go to Full Review

His ingenious and uncompromising approach to turning an engaging playthrough into a white-knuckle cinematic experience is something that can be called a true original, unbeholden to conventions of duration, collaboration or self-conscious discipline. Go to Full Review

Trimming at least thirty minutes from the final cut would not have betrayed the game’s structure. It likely would have honored it better, while keeping non-diehard fans more engaged. Go to Full Review

Adam 35m Went to support Markiplier and indie film makers, left a fan of the movie and genre. Took my wife and she was pleasantly surprised at how good the acting and overall quality was for a low budget film. Would watch again! See more Giselle 1h Love the psychological horror of this movie, and Mark and everyone involved did a fantastic job in this movies production. The plot, tension, music and acting was perfect! 10/10 Absolute Cinema! Would definitely watch again! See more Ava 2h Wow, Mark. After having watched the playthrough all those years ago, I could see a spark of passion in your eyes. This movie conveyed the story so well, as well as adding your own twists and (no pun intended) diving deeper into the lore of the story. It felt like an adaptation as well as an original. The ability to string us along for such a simple story, and never making the camera angles boring with such a small space to work with was truly artful. Fantastic job on your first indie, can’t wait for the next! See more rocky s 2h What do you get when you combine the sci-fi hellscape of Event Horizon and the submerged search for Cthulhu in Underwater, and reduce them to a one isolated character movie like Locke (and that character is played by a YouTuber instead of Tom Hardy)? The most tedious, boring, repetitive, overlong, pointless, and pretentious movie that I’ve ever suffered through in my life. See more andrew 3h Honestly, it was okay — a solid example of a game that probably should never have been adapted into a movie. That said, I’m glad they tried. The director was clearly super passionate about the source material, which came through. But man, during the middle half of the film, practically everyone in the theater was on their phone. The movie completely failed to capture the game’s powerful sense of isolation and loneliness — other characters kept popping in constantly, which undercut that feeling entirely. That being said, I actually didn’t mind the extra characters I kind of liked it. Mark’s acting was surprisingly strong overall, though at times he dipped into B-movie territory with some of his choices. The film wasn’t even a little bit scary, but the premise itself was really interesting, and I genuinely hope they explore more in this universe. All in all, it was way better than anything Chris stuckman has ever done. See more Kaitlyn R 3h Outstanding film. So happy to see Markipliers vision come to life. It scared the life out of me and I have to be honest I cried a little from how disturbing it was which I feel shows how truly well this was done. Such a success See more Read all reviews
