Stressed by adolescence, 16-year-old Craig Gilner (Keir Gilchrist) checks himself into a mental-health clinic. Unfortunately, the youth wing is closed, so he must spend his mandated five-day stay with adults. One of them, Bobby (Zach Galifianakis), quickly becomes his mentor -- and protégé, while Craig finds himself drawn to a fellow teen, Noelle (Emma Roberts), who just may be the cure he needs to forget an unrequited crush.

It's amiable, and it does a surprisingly good job of sidestepping psych ward comedy cliches, but given its talented cast and directors, It's Kind of a Funny Story should be more than just mildly entertaining.

This movie was amazing. I am going through depresion myself, so I watched the movie, and god, is it amazing. Its funny, the cast is so good, and its relatable. After watching this movie 9 times, I even started reading the book, witch is amazing, too. RIP Ned, your books are the best!

Not the least bit funny and rather insulting to those patients who have been in a psychiatric hospital. Thankfully one can fast forward when it’s streamed.
