The saving grace of John Dies at the End is undoubtedly its manic storytelling: the energy and pacing of scenes give the movie the impression of being told on the spot (which is of course what the framing device intends).

This movie was the best it could be considering the source material. If you like to just shut off your brain and just enjoy the absurdity then This movie is for you. It's a dumb funny movie that deserves its cult following. If you want more read the book series because its just as hilarious.

It’s a very decent watch; extremely goofy! Definitely not for everyone, but if you’re good to go with a trippy sci-fi that’s dumb fun, you’ll definitely enjoy this one.
