See more Jay W @RT52162311 Jan 9 The first half of this movie is painful. The main kid is set up as being so bratty and so obnoxious he is difficult to root for. We get that school can be hard, but that is no excuse for the actions he takes. The movie will rapidly change styles, sometimes breaking into music. There is this one animated segment, that is straight from Calvin & Hobbes. But then, at the 1 hour 14-minute mark of the film, the best character enters the picture. His substitute art teacher, Mr. Nikumbh, who turns the kid's life around and single handedly saves the movie. I'm an easy mark for this type of story, after all, I am a substitute teacher. The greatest of since the year 2000. Imagining, executing and making such film is an amazing achievement. The most creative film that explores creativity and the struggles that come with living a creative life. I can watch this movie over and over again and still get emotional watching the climax.
