Ian, a man on the verge of a nervous breakdown, disappears from the world and takes a hike in the New Zealand wilderness. His efforts to avoid other hikers are futile and he is drawn into their worlds, but he can never shake the feeling that they are being stalked by someone, or something, sinister. As Ian's paranoia grows, the other hikers become wary of him. He’s cagey about his past, he never sleeps, and his anxiety leads him to make concerning claims. Far from society, Ian starts to question his own sanity before plunging into a bloody battle for survival.

The film finishes as neither arthouse fish or genre-film fowl (more the latter though). Too bad, because it’s performed with conviction on both the satirical and earnest sides of the spectrum, and Ian is a memorable creation.

Loop Track is a smartly written thriller that builds to a great reveal. There are clues along the way that some viewers will pick up on, but it all makes the bonkers final act that much better.

It's a tease, if you remember the longest hike you've ever been on, this one's longer and with only teasers along the way until the final 15 minutes. Watch at your peril, and you'll only eat crow- or crow will eat you. The film seems intelligently cast and directed ONLY TO THE POINT THAT IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE A HORROR FILM. Hmmm...

The main guy is a bloody brilliant actor. Outstanding. The film is excellent too. Really unnerving. Characters are interesting. The basic premise is comforting and its so funny.

This was a surprisingly excellent psychological thriller/creature feature set in forrests of New Zealand. The actors were terrific and movie is very well made for what I imagine was a small budget. Well done tension building with effective character building and a bit humor. Highly recommend for fans of psychological horror.

Synopsis
