While working her first night shift at a remote motel, a young woman, Gwen Taylor (Phoebe Tonkin), begins to suspect that she is being followed by a dangerous character from her past. The only thing holding the film back is the final act. It’s relatively clever, but the only aspect of Night Shift that invites a greater analysis with some of the plot holes created for its payoff.

Ugh. This movie really had some great things going for it in the beginning. I liked the writing and scare tactics - but around minute-21, I had guessed the ending. And MAN, was the execution of it horribly done. By the time I hit the "Open your mouth…" line, I basically just gave up. It was so corny, so riddled with holes in logic and so stupidly impossible (…professional physician and two unarmed "orderlies" show up to catch escaped, violent convicts? Lol. Sure) that I couldn’t fondly recall the earlier parts - which did really work.
