Revenge is a promising first film and, with any luck, perhaps Fargeat will approach her next film with more of an eye on instilling some dimensionality into her characters to achieve a stronger sense of catharsis.

Great cinematography and stunning locations, but the plot is so absurd that by the end we were laughing at how ridiculous it became. Anyone comparing this to Tarantino clearly has no idea what made his films work. At the same time, the movie perfectly reflects the latest trend in Hollywood: female characters portrayed as unstoppable superheroes who effortlessly outperform men despite having little or no training

Flashing neon sex and sunlit art deco interior design always grab attention but the story needs to do something to maintain attention. Unfortunately, this story fails to suspend disbelief early on and never quite regains the attention it had as it goes about a revenge tour we’ve seen before. I do not believe she survives, let alone remains in a condition to carry out her acts of revenge. It becomes an un-immersible tale that can only be negatively picked at. By the time it reaches the final act I can only say "C’mon! Get it over with!"
