Lori S @OverActress Mar 21 Kevin Costner was completely miscast in this movie. He tried... he wanted it to work, but he was just too old and entirely too American. The best part of the movie is Alan Rickman as the Sheriff of Nottingham. Little John is fun, too. Basically everyone is good but Kevin Costner. If you can watch it for free, do so, if for no other reason to see Snape acting sexy. LOL. Its so cheesy mice queued for the premier. Oh I have a brother, oh dear one of the most naff lines in cinema, perhaps the poor delivery and shooting of the line. Freeman is weak, wooden. Costner not focused on character and more on Costner, he should have ived in the woods for a month... A shame its money badly spent like Ridley Scotts where casting accents acting and script let him down. But that film as jeopardy, tone and pace and some excellent acting. Saw in the theatre's- watching again in 2025. This is very indicative of a late 80's early 90's movie. It was somewhat a blockbuster than. It doesn't hold up as well over time. For some this is going to be THE Robinhood movie but a young person probably isn't going to like it- it's dated. Though Costner would seem out-of-place in the role now, audiences didn't pay much attention to stuff like that back than. Going to keep for nostalgia sake but probably won't be watching it again. See more Kennedy S @RT80345748 Jul 14 Absolutely loved this movie! The action felt realistic instead of rehearsed, composed combat and I absolutely loved the romance between Robin and Marian. And you can’t go wrong with the amazing cast and how they work with one another; a lot of camaraderie and relationship development. I don’t see the problem with Costner’s supposedly “awful” accent. If anything, it’s irrelevant to the amazing acting and line delivery from the actor. I feel it’s just nitpicking when there’s not really a set accent for old England. If you get past that, you can enjoy the masterpiece that this rugged, period piece that this movie is. See more Read all reviews
