Karla S 10/26/2024 All I can say is Benito del toro See more Chris S @Janomi 3d Sicario: Day of the Soldado is excellent because Taylor Sheridan continues to write crime drama with a hard, morally complicated edge. The story takes the rotten world of the first film and pushes it into a harsher political-thriller direction, where governments, cartels, and covert operators all treat people as pieces on a board. The setup is strong: the U.S. government uses a cartel kidnapping operation to trigger conflict between rival groups. That darker escalation gives the sequel a brutal sense of purpose. The convoy ambush, desert scenes, and border material keep the atmosphere tense, violent, and dangerous. Benicio del Toro remains compelling as Alejandro, bringing quiet menace and wounded intensity while allowing small traces of humanity to surface through his scenes with Isabel. Josh Brolin is just as effective as Matt Graver, blunt, confident, and morally flexible. It may not be as perfectly controlled as Sicario, but it is still intense, grim, and highly effective. It features nice visuals and amazing cinematography. I like this one also even though it felt like a very thin plot. But I like the vibe throughout the film. It has nice quality. It has great acting, writing and camera work that can both feel visceral without sacrificing clarity to the audience. But then the movie has a major problem. And unfortunately, it’s the ending. The movie feels like it is setting up a sequel, one that 8 years later, we have not seen any evidence of being made. It is a cliffhanger that won't get resolved, and that is the feeling it leaves the audience with. The bad news: there is no Sicario sequal that's like the first movie. Sicario 1 vs Sicario 2 it is like eating at a Michelin Star restaurant and then eating at local restaurant.
