When a failed nuclear fusion experiment results in an explosion that kills his wife, Dr. Otto Octavius is transformed into Dr. Octopus, a cyborg with deadly metal tentacles. Doc Ock blames Spider-Man for the accident and seeks revenge. Meanwhile, Spidey's alter ego, Peter Parker, faces fading powers and self-doubt. Maybe it has something to do with Sam Raimi's skills as a director, or with Tobey Maguire's very human central performance, but the Spider-Man films are by far the best of the superhero genre.

I'm not the biggest fan of the characterization of Mary Jane in this franchise and Tobey Macquire getting lapped by other actors, I still had a lot of fun watching this, especially with my kids.

First time watching this extended cut, full of scenes initially deleted for good reason, as they drag down the pacing and distract from the fun action. Mary Jane’s subplots (plus her lousy accent in that play!) all feel interminable in this version.
