In early 20th-century Britain, the growing suffragette movement forever changes the life of working wife and mother Maud Watts (Carey Mulligan). Galvanized by political activist Emmeline Pankhurst (Meryl Streep), Watts joins a diverse group of women who fight for equality and the right to vote. The cast held the movie with great acting performances. Carey Mulligan is perfect for her role: a working class young mother who discovers that she can fight for her rights in society. Just like in Titanic, the characters are both fictional and historical (Emmeline Pankhurst or Emily Davison). The shots' colors might seem dull but it represented quite well the vibe of the early 1910's. The way the scenes are shot completely transports us into the events. The point of view is even more interesting and accurate because the movie was directed, produced and written by women, and the cast is mainly composed of women.
