There are some warm and funny conversational moments sprinkled throughout, and Watkins acquits herself very well yet the rhythm of the romance is ultimately too haphazard, making the deliberately messy relationship a bit too hard to buy into.

This isn’t your typical movie. And that’s a good thing. Some user reviews complain that it’s cringey, but that’s because it’s showing needy people as they are, not the pretty picture everyone tries to show the public. In today’s superficial social media world it’s important to show that you shouldn’t judge people by superficial appearances. When I was younger, I had many menial jobs, that taught me that there are good people at every social level. And assholes at every social level. This movie also shows that you’re not doing your children any favors by being overprotective. Creative people aren’t valued in today’s cookie cutter world. Celebrate an actual example of a creative person struggling academically and emotionally.
