Hassan Kadam is an extraordinarily talented and largely self-taught culinary novice. When he and his family are displaced from their native India and settle in a quaint French village, they decide to open an Indian eatery. However, Madame Mallory, the proprietress of an acclaimed restaurant just 100 feet away, strongly objects. War erupts between the two establishments, until Mallory recognizes Kadam's impressive epicurean gifts and takes him under her wing.

How wrong can you go with a comedy about beautiful people making beautiful food in the south of France? And Helen Mirren? The woman can turn 105 and she'll still be alluring, even when she's being haughty. Lots of laughs.

The Hundred-Foot Journey (watched 2026), was a cute chef romance film, that did a good job touching on Indian immigration into Europe, specifically France. The chef-work and meals were the main stage, and the inclusion of infusion based recipes were well done. While the film felt very fast towards the end with Hasan racing through his progression, I found the film to be a great watch overall. TLDR: This is a perfect weekend watch, if you are interested in cooking movies this is an easy add to the list.

Would have been even better for me, if some French hadn't been English. And the Indians hadn't spoken English together. Then communication would have been a real challenge, and the story much more real. Sweet anyway though

I love this movie. When I first saw it, I was not that into it. Then something wonderful happened over time. I gave it another chance and I fell in love with it in ways I cannot express. It has one of the most important lessons ever in it, that to be true to yourself, and have the faith and confidence to be who you are, and if you are good at something, to not hold back, but to excel and be all you can be. Even if that has a cost, being yourself is the best thing you can do in life! What a wonderful, and beautiful movie! This movie teaches me, that sometimes, first impressions are wrong! It is sweet and touching and REAL! If only people would stick things out to the better conclusions like these people do! I love all the characters, the Dad and Hassan, and Madame Mallory and Marguerite and all of the family! You get TWO romances, and you get the real love of food like few movies! And you get the celebration of being all you can be! Go Hassan! Get those stars!

I love this movie and rewatch it often, it has cooking, romance (both a younger and older couple!), its heartwarming and truly excellent. Fills your soul like a good meal.
