The movie does set up potential for a continuing movie franchise. Mostly, though, Jack Ryan: Ghost War feels like a sad state of affairs for the world’s dads (and dads at heart), who deserve to see airport-novel espionage brought to less chintzy life.

The opening scene — rife with cliches, illogic and needless endangerment of the local citizenry — set the stage for the rest of the film. I didn’t want Betty Gabriel’s character to die, but she was likely relieved to be free of the disintegrating franchise.

I wish I could rate it lower. It was really boring. The writing was just so so awful. The dialog sounded AI it was just so uninspired. Please reboot this with new creatives and a new cast. I like Krasinski, but this is a wrong role for him. He is not comfortable wearing this suit.

This movie is not good but it’s not terrible. It is just average in every sense of the word. It is just bland and characterless. It is not worth watching again for any reason, but it’s not terrible. It is just not good. 5/10
