Aside from a quick blast of Belinda Carlisle’s 1980s banger Heaven Is A Place On Earth on the soundtrack, and a visit to RAF Abingdon in Oxfordshire, there really isn’t much to lift the spirits here.

It just didn’t seem to have the gravitas of previous films. Ryan never seemed to be in danger and the story just fell apart as it neared its ending.

I apparently missed whatever the naysayers didn't like. I've seen this twice, will definitely see it many more times, and I feel this is easily John's strongest Jack Ryan and can't wait for more. There was nothing I disliked about this movie.

Maybe it got better, but I’m doubtful. We have enjoyed previous Jack Ryan series and films, but this one is by far the worst. We watched the film for about 45 minutes and just couldn’t stand to watch another minute. It is terrible. No plot, no characters we cared about, little humor, etc. Krasinski is a very good Jack Ryan, but the writing here is lousy. I understand Krasinski wrote parts of the screenplay, so I guess it’s his fault.
