In this new film, Jack Ryan is reluctantly thrust back into the world of espionage when an international covert mission unravels a deadly conspiracy, forcing him to confront a rogue black-ops unit, and the clock is ticking. Operating in real time with lives on the line and the threat escalating at every turn, Jack reunites with battle-tested CIA operative Mike November (Michael Kelly) and former CIA boss James Greer (Wendell Pierce), their combined experience the only edge they have against an enemy who knows their every move. Backed by an unlikely new partner -- razor-sharp MI6 officer Emma Marlowe (Sienna Miller) -- Jack and the team navigate a treacherous web of betrayal, facing a past they thought was long put to rest -- making this the most personal, high-stakes mission any of them have ever faced.

Krasinski executive produced and co-wrote the screenplay but doesn’t seem to have been very interested in character development or meaningful dialogue. Go to Full Review

[Krasinski] makes you care whether Ryan can get out of pickle after pickle, enough to make you wish there will be another Ryan standalone film in the future. Go to Full Review

John Krasinski can do anything, except turn the livewire CIA operative he played for four TV seasons into something other than a pale shadow of his former self trying to pass muster in an ill-conceived two-hour movie. Go to Full Review

Aside from a quick blast of Belinda Carlisle’s 1980s banger Heaven Is A Place On Earth on the soundtrack, and a visit to RAF Abingdon in Oxfordshire, there really isn’t much to lift the spirits here. Go to Full Review

'Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan: Covert War' displays the natural effectiveness of the CIA agent's stories, although without the substance that the previous films had. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Mitchell S. @RT46658097 6h It just didn’t seem to have the gravitas of previous films. Ryan never seemed to be in danger and the story just fell apart as it neared its ending. See more Pillow F @RT80895443 8h Not a pillow approved film. See more timm L @RT11630475 9h Not a summer blockbuster, but still a fun watch! See more Koi P @hopep 10h More character development and more interesting characters/dialog would have elevated the film. Still an entertaining movie. See more Ing B. @RT64510981 11h I apparently missed whatever the naysayers didn't like. I've seen this twice, will definitely see it many more times, and I feel this is easily John's strongest Jack Ryan and can't wait for more. There was nothing I disliked about this movie. See more Collie1228 T @RT96365180 16h Maybe it got better, but I’m doubtful. We have enjoyed previous Jack Ryan series and films, but this one is by far the worst. We watched the film for about 45 minutes and just couldn’t stand to watch another minute. It is terrible. No plot, no characters we cared about, little humor, etc. Krasinski is a very good Jack Ryan, but the writing here is lousy. I understand Krasinski wrote parts of the screenplay, so I guess it’s his fault. See more Read all reviews
