Marco L @decatur555 2d Three Steps Above Heaven is a terrible romantic drama built around the disturbing idea that violence, jealousy and emotional instability become desirable when attached to a handsome bad boy. Mario Casas gives a painfully limited performance based on angry expressions, a clenched jaw and constant posing, while María Valverde cannot create any believable chemistry with him. Their relationship develops because the screenplay insists that it is passionate, not because the characters share anything convincing. The story is a collection of adolescent clichés, illegal races, fights, possessiveness and forced tragedy, all wrapped in music and romantic imagery. Instead of questioning Hache’s behavior, the film presents him as an ideal lover. Clumsy, empty and deeply irresponsible. The only drawback of the movie was that it ended very differently than I expected in the beginning, even in the second movie, the two main characters of the movie do not get along with each other.
