Yo, this man made masterpieces like the Avatar movies, Terminator 1 and 2, Titanic and Aliens. The action sequences were pretty cool. The dynamic between Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis is beautiful and epic. James Cameron shot this movie so beautifully and cool. Overall, I give True Lies a 8.7/19 or a 4.1/5 stars. I have never tired of watching this, the continuous fun poked at every serious film that came before & has come after. The scence where he commandeers a huge response team to take down ‘Simon’ on a romantic secret meet with his wife in a crappy trailer park is legendary (IMO) That it combines political issues, personal family conflict & working challenges that still exist today shows just how deep the writers understand society. Very interesting. It just translates badly in the present. The pacing was exceedingly fast near the beginning, but slows down horribly in the middle. It was good at the beginning and the end, but seriously the middle was the most painfully slow and awkward writing ever. So Harry Tasker (Arnold Schwarznegger) thought that Helen Tasker (Jamie Lee Curtis) was cheating on him, so he forced her to believe she was involved in a crime, and then Tasker forces Helen to do exotic dances in front of him for just talking to another man? Honestly Arnold’s character wasn’t relatable or funny as he is in most of his movies. The middle of this movie just dragged it down. It turned our protagonist petty, and Jamie Lee Curtis into something just to fulfill the audience’s need to see her sexually and proactively moving. The first scene was amazingly action packed and exciting. So was the ending. Just the middle fell flat completely and made the film hard to follow. I honestly started doing other things I got so bored with this movie. This isn’t Arnold’s best outing on the big screen. See more Read all reviews
